On April 23rd High Pointe Church celebrated 17 years of ministering to the people of South Hill and beyond. From day one we set out to follow Jesus Christ on a challenging but exciting journey. This April, the High Pointe family took our biggest step of faith to date in order to expand our ministry effectiveness. It is time for us to begin building on the property God has given us. Sunday morning is important, but transformation truly begins when you share life with other believers. In other words, we're better together! Through intentional relationships, we are more likely to grow more like Christ and that is our goal as Christians – to be transformed into His likeness. That's why Small Groups and Discipleship Groups are so important.

    New to Faith?

We believe that God created the world and everything in it, including you, and He wants to begin a personal, one-on-one relationship with you today. It Starts With Jesus

Everyone has an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things. We believe He wants to change you, too.

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well."

    John 14:6

Baptism is an outward expression of an inner commitment to follow Jesus Christ. If you (or your child) have made a decision to follow Christ as the Savior and leader of your life, then Scripture explains Baptism is a vital next step. It is a meaningful celebration of a spiritual new beginning. High Pointe holds indoor immersion Baptism on several Sundays throughout the year. If you are interested in being baptized or if you have questions about baptism, please fill out the form HERE.

    The Bible

The Bible is not just a collection of stories, good ideas, moral codes, or a history book. The Bible is God's word to all people. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Psalm 119:105, 160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

    7. WE WILL

Personally and corporately engage and befriend people far away from God through our everyday lives and relevant church wide activities.

    8. WE WILL BE

People who pray acknowledging our dependence upon God, seeking his guidance and expressing our thanks for meeting all of our needs.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is an intelligent, spiritual and personal being who has eternally existed in three persons:
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

    (Genesis 1:1, 26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

    (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13)

The Holy is Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

    (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16, 12:12,13; Ephesians 1:13, 5:1; Galatians 5:25)

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. They are the supreme object of God's creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This sin separates people from God and cannot be bridged apart from God's intervention.

    (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10-12, 23: Isaiah 59:1,2)

People were created to exist forever either eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with God is Heaven. The New Heavens and the New Earth, and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

    (John 3:16; John 2:25; 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 8:11; Matthew 24:44)

Salvation is a gift from God to people of living eternally in Heaven with Him. People can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or earn their way to Heaven by doing good things. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can people be saved from sin's penalty of eternal separation from God. Eternal life begins the moment one confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and by faith receives Him into his/her life.

    (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Acts 4:10-12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1, 10:9)

Because God gives people eternal life through Jesus Christ, those who believe in and trust Christ are secure in their salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.

    (John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10, 14; 1 Peter1:3-5)

We are all born with a sinful nature and in need of forgiveness by God. Our repentance is agreeing with God that we have sinned and allowing Him to forgive us of the sin. God totally forgives us of the sin and remembers it no more.

    (Psalm 130:12; Isaiah 1:18; Isaiah 38:17; Jeremiah 31:34; :Micah 7:19)

    Why we give.

We give because God wants us to give and commands that we do so. God entrusts us with His money to invest in His work. He does so not for Him but for us. We believe that the love of money is the greatest challenge to our being fully devoted to Jesus. When we give back to God sacrificially it puts our focus on Him as our source of security. It helps to break the hold money and materialism have on us that permeates our culture. Lastly, the giving by High Pointe’s members and attenders enables the ministry of High Pointe Church to help with the physical and spiritual needs of others both near and far.
    (Proverbs 3:9-10; Malachi 3:8-10; 2 Samuel 24:24; Matthew 6:24; 2 Corinthians 9:10-12)

    What is tithing?

A tithe—which just means “tenth”is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income that was given back to God. Tithing is a principle that is taught throughout the Old Testament. The New Testament speaks more to how we should give than how much we should give. Specifically, the New Testament teaches that we should give willingly, joyfully, generously, expectantly and sacrificially. Ultimately the amount we give should be what we decide in our hearts to give and reflect our trust in God, eternal perspective and awareness of how much God gave up for us. For some 10% is a goal to work towards and for others a good place to start. The idea is that followers of Jesus should be the most generous people on earth as a witness to a confused world.
    (2 Corinthians 8:3-4, 12; 9:6-7; Mark 12:41-44)
