Worship Pastor
David Hiegel
David Hiegel was born on September 2, 1962 in Orleans, France. At the tender age of one, his family moved to Renton, Washington. David met Amy Appleby on November 1, 1986, and they were married on August 1, 1987. Shortly afterward, David attended culinary school and worked in the restaurant industry until joining the staff at High Pointe.
In 1990, David and Amy helped start Meadowbrook Church in Redmond, Washington. They served in a volunteer capacity on the worship planning, vocal, and drama teams, taught adult discipleship classes and children's classes, and led various home groups. The Hiegels have two daughters, Ainsley (1992) and Grace (1994). In 1998, David and Amy began to sense that God had a change in store for them. Through a process of prayer and the counsel and affirmation of others, it became apparent that God was moving them into vocational ministry.
David and Amy began attending High Pointe in January 2000 in an effort to help launch Sunday morning services, by bringing together a band and leading the music. David joined the High Pointe staff and moved to Puyallup from Renton in the spring of 2000 to direct the worship arts ministry. He coordinates the band, vocal, graphics, sound, drama, lighting, artistic, and service planning teams, to bring together various elements in our services to help High Pointers engage all of their senses in connecting with God.
David is passionate about educating High Pointers about worship so that they will grow ever deeper in their connection to God. He believes that worship is not confined to a Sunday morning service. It is, in essence, saying yes to God in every aspect and detail of our lives. David finds deep satisfaction in witnessing life-change in individuals. It is an awesome thing to see people choose Christ and to watch God transform their lives.
