ETHIOPIA!
High Pointe is currently building a team to send on a short-term mission trip April 1-11, 2027. You may ask, “What does serving in Ethiopia look like?” Smart question! Below are some pictures and videos that showcase what the team did 8 months ago.
HPC was invited back by church leaders to do more of the same with an emphasis on teaching teachers how to engage children in Sunday School, Literacy Programs and Children’s Clubs. The teachers in these remote villages are literate but not trained teachers. They come with a willingness to lead children, teaching them how to read, do simple math and to love Jesus.
Who will lead the High Pointe team?
Joy Casey has worked in Ethiopia for twenty years and is the founder and director of NewLife Ethiopia. She will lead the team along with Cheryl Moyd. Cheryl is an experienced and gifted teacher who will design and lead the activities with children and teachers.

Team Serves Remote Church Plants – A team of nine people from High Pointe Church served in two remote church plants, one of them a church built through the generosity of High Pointe. Their time was filled with encouragement, outreach, and learning about the ministry happening in difficult places.

Literacy Program Activities -- Children participating in NewLife’s literacy program enjoyed special math literacy activities that helped them grow in both learning and confidence.
Community Children’s Outreach -- Hundreds of community children came to enjoy fun VBS-style activities filled with games, learning, and Bible teaching.
Women’s Bible Study -- Women gathered for meaningful fellowship and spent time studying the women of the Bible together.

Audio Bibles Distributed – 60 solar-charged audio Bibles in the local language were distributed to women who cannot read, giving many the opportunity to have Scripture at their fingertips for the first time.
Learning About Evangelism Challenges -- The team spent a day at our Bible school learning about NewLife’s evangelism challenges and the plans to bring the Gospel to hard and unreached places.
Missionary Testimonies -- Four missionaries shared their testimonies and spoke about the challenges of bringing the Gospel to regions that are highly resistant to Christianity.

Orphanage Visit -- The babies and toddlers in our orphanage quickly captured the hearts of the entire team!

Praying over Addis Ababa – In groups of 3 or 4, the HP team and the NewLife Ethiopian staff prayed on Mt. Entoto for Ethiopia, the United States, and for the spread of the Gospel worldwide.
