Me? Part Of God's Global Purpose?

ME?  Part of God’s Global Purpose?

What, exactly, does “being part of God’s global purpose” mean?  “Global” sounds kind of big; kind of scary.  Just for fun, ask yourself, “Am I being stretched spiritually with how I am currently serving?”  Does what you do take you beyond comfortable and convenient?  Do you feel God is urging you toward something more but you haven’t a clue what that might be?  God has a unique role for each Christian in His global purpose of evangelizing the nations.  You have an integral role to play in God’s plan, but finding that role requires intentionality and does not happen automatically or by accident.

GO!

There are two groups of people from HPC that are intentionally investing their time and money to come alongside ministries serving local communities in Guatemala.  One is a high school group and one is a group of adults.

Over the next 5-6 months, both groups will be challenged to grow spiritually, learn about a Latin American culture, cooperate as a group, share Jesus in a cross-cultural setting and, above all, catch a glimpse of how glorious it will be when God reveals the grand finale of human history with “a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues (Revelation 7:9).”  If you feel a stirring to serve cross-culturally in a temporary or career capacity, please set up a time to talk to Steven Hinkeldey, High Pointe’s Spiritual Director.  High Pointe definitely wants to mentor and support you as you discern next steps.

SEND!

“But,” you say, “I cannot travel overseas. How can I possibly be involved ‘in the nations’?”  There are different ways to be involved and, as you know, different seasons of life that may change how you serve.  It is easy to identify a “missionary” – one who goes.  But in order for missionaries to be successful, someone has to send them and support what they do.  A recent example of a “sender” is an anonymous donation given to the adult group going to Guatemala, greatly reducing the overall trip cost helping some to go who previously could not.

High Pointe Church actively supports cross-cultural ministry throughout the world and we are making headway on addressing the needs of the diaspora here at home.  If you are unsure of how to “send,” consider supporting one of the ministries HPC has already vetted and is involved with (check them out here) or simply designate your giving to HPC “missions” where your donation will be thoughtfully  allocated to the needs of our global partners.

LEARN and PRAY!

Missionaries also need to be emotionally supported both on the field and when they come home.  Send notes to missionaries you (or HP) supports, letting them know you regularly pray for them (if you do). When our mission partners visit High Pointe, visit with them and make them feel welcomed.  Take time to talk with them – get to know them.

Unapologetically, finances play a significant role in global missions, but the most important thing you can do is be a faithful intercessor.  Align your prayers with what God is doing globally.  Become informed with cooperative global strategies that the Lausanne Movement leads effectively.

Read literature that the short-term teams to Guatemala are reading:  How to be a World Class Christian and Is the Commission Still Great?  Download the 50 most persecuted countries in the world from Open Doors and set time aside daily or weekly to pray (there are prayer points).

Delve into current stories of what is happening to Christians around the world.  As you read, your heart will begin to align with God’s heart and you will experience a new and amazing spiritual awakening that will lead you into effective intercession.  The Voice of the Martyrs’ global prayer guide is an excellent resource to educate and guide those who want to comprehend God’s global purposes.

God is preparing a glorious inheritance for His Son Jesus – an uncountable multitude of perfectly-forgiven, wholly-devoted worshippers from every nation, tribe, and tongue.  We must not merely wait for this to happen.  God asks for us to work with Him to bring it to pass (2 Corinthians 6:1).  Jesus commands:  “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).

JOIN US!

While you are seeking to find your role in the Great Commission, please set aside one hour a month to join High Pointe’s Mission Strategy Team in prayer for the persecuted church, High Pointe’s global mission partners, and wisdom for our local church family.  We meet in the “upper room” at 10 a.m. the 3rd Sunday of every month.

Joyfully Serving Him,

HPC Mission Strategy Team
